It's not enough to give them material things, time is also essential for parents to give their children. If needed, you should also be tough about abiding rules but not to the point that your kids get mistreated and abused. I would know. What really has a big affect on us is how our parents act. I know many people who have left home, and to tell you the truth, the reason they did is because of how their parents were towards them, and my one friend had a younger sister. Her younger sister was the "perfect Child" in their parents eyes, while she was listening to my chemical romance, and sure she wasn't doing well in science, so they punished her over and over, they never even attempted to get her help with her homework. The day she turned 16, THE DAY, she moved out, her parents didn't even have a party for her, they just told her to get out. So she moved into an apt.with one of her friends, and got a job, she still tries to go to high school when she can, she gets her work done, and she got help from that friend she moved in with, and brought her average up, she is now graduating a whole year early! when her family asked her to come back, she declined and told her sister she'd be better off away from them.

THE END. that the last i heard of her, she told me she had applied to go to brock university.

in the end the biggest factor is how parents react...socksnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33945539.post-80087968031145362392008-06-05T11:29:00.000-05:002008-06-05T11:29:00.000-05:00who ever wrote this bull shit is just another typi...who ever wrote this bull shit is just another typicall person who looks at steriotypes. i live in south central/ east side los angeles,i wear baggy cloths mostly white or black colours hat tilted to side and use old english letters but i am not gang related. that is just the way of survival here, if i dont wear that im more of a target "go there 2 know there"Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33945539.post-42061314640357565362008-06-01T10:07:00.000-05:002008-06-01T10:07:00.000-05:00I hear "Ignorance is bliss" all too often. The greatest need remains with parents to engage their youngsters in daily conversation and nurturing their child’s relationships as positively as they can. Most students are not preoccupied with bullying/gang behavior because of their families focus on acquiring a good education. A lot of the problem is...Yes, it is getting worse. A lot of the problem is single parent households without enough authority to get the kids to behave. A strong two parent household is really important.

Also, too many people are being turned over to the state which is neither a good mother nor a good father. Something like 40% of children in state homes end up in a life in crime.

We need to strengthen the family, and strengthen the incentives for adoption. Many children would be better off with a family than in foster homes.

The gangs recruit directly out of the orphanages and state run homes.

Also we need to make it clear that staying in school is good for people.

Do whatever it takes.

Thanks for stopping by earlier.

The Books Not Bars program is a good example of this.Book Calendarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12549140171632794868noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33945539.post-55458316860257696412007-11-13T22:27:00.000-06:002007-11-13T22:27:00.000-06:00Great blog!! Given the enormous time and energy she has dedicated to helping kids and educating us all----don't you think she deserves some FUNDING to continue this amazing project??? In a community as close knit as South Sioux City and surrounding areas, surely we can muster up support for the sake of our kids?! Business owners, even a $100 contribution would go a long way in providing these caring services for kids!! Susie doesn't know I am writing this and she surely didn't ask me to raise funds for Watchful Eye----but I have to tell you, if anybody deserves community support it is Watchful Eye and Susie! Think about it. Think about what will be lost if she can no longer operate this program.
